Knowledge of Cervical Cancer Prevention and Screening Uptake Among Female Non-Health Care Providers in Two Selected General Hospitals in Lagos State

Cervical cancer is an abnormal growth of the cells cervix which lower-most part uterus. This can spread to other parts body, including lungs, liver, bladder, vagina, and rectum. Therefore, this research was aimed at assessing knowledge cervical prevention screening uptake among female non-health care providers working in various departments two general hospitals Lagos. Annually, Nigeria 14,943 cases are reported: out these 10,403 women die leading 28 deaths daily from cancer. However, needless death be prevented if diagnosed early through screening, uptake. The adopted a descriptive cross-sectional survey. population comprises 350 selected Lagos Island. sample size 165 determined using Leslie Kish formula. A self-developed validated questionnaire used collect data. Data collected were analysed inferential statistics 0.05 level significance. results showed that 108 (65.5%) respondents knew vagina bleeding after intercourse symptoms while 102 (61.8%) having multiple sexual partners factors for acquiring Furthermore 113 (68.5%) preventable 118 (71.5%) believes regular prevent 148 (89.7%) interested participating screening. revealed there positive significant relationship between them. concluded despite adequate as reported by result, still low.
